1. Japanese Garden
This beautiful landscaped garden, designed with a Japanese flair, features Japanese carp pond, rock garden as well as a refreshing atmosphere and beds of colourful flora.
2. Taiping Zoo
For a small fee, you are able to treat yourself to the exotic sights and sounds of some of Malaysia's wild animals in an enclave of natural setting with streams, lakes and abundance of flora.
3. Mount Ulu Sepat
Although Mount Ulu Sepat is one of the higher mountains, climbing it just takes about three days. The start of the trail is at Kampung Rantau, which is the remote village in the Grik area of Perak, where the climb to Gunung Chamah also begins.
4. Gua Tambun
Neolithic rock paintings are the definite attractions in Gua Tambun (Tambun Caves) situated at Tambun, outside Ipoh. The 5, 000-year old paintings were first discovered in 1959 by more recent rock artists speaks of early dwellers in the Malay Peninsular.
5. Royal Ipoh Club & Padang
On 31 May 1962, the Sultan of Perak declared the formation of the Municipality of Ipoh at this Padang.
6. Bersia Grazing Reserve
An area covering 300 hectares of undulating greenery beside Perak River, Bersia Grazing Reserve is 15 km from Grik in northern Perak
7. Geological Museum
This geological museum houses more than 600 samples of minerals and ores found in the state of Perak. This is the best place to start if you want to know more about the tin industry in Perak.
8. Bukit Gantang Homestay
Take in the peaceful kampong scenery and at the same time have a chat with your foster parents over a hot, steaming cup of black coffee on the balcony.
9. Kek Lok Tong (Cave of Great Happiness)
Opened in the 1970s, this is the most recent of the Ipoh cave temples and perhaps the most spectacular of them all.
10. F.M.S. Bar & Restaurant
Founded in 1906 by a Hainanese immigrant, "The F.M.S" - an acronym for the Federated Malay States, was the archetypal European miners' and planters' bar.
